Background
The Arizona Telecommunications and Information Council (ATIC), the Telecommunications Infrastructure Subcommittee(TISC) of the Governor’s Council on Innovation and Technology (GCIT), the Community Information and Telecommunications Alliance, and the Arizona Consumer Council, are collaborating in the development of a strategy to accelerate deployment of advanced telecommunications services and affordable broadband Internet access throughout the State.

We have been in discussions with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regarding federal support for telecom infrastructure initiatives in Arizona. While the FCC does not have funding, they have offerd to help coordinate and facilitate access to other federal departments.

We are now in the process of identifying Arizona initiatives to present to federal agencies and private resources.

Arizona Telecom Roundtable
The Arizona Telecommunications and Information Council (ATIC), in cooperation with the Telecommunications Infrastructure Subcommittee (TISC) of the Governor’s Council on Innovation and Technology (GCIT), will convene an Arizona Telecommunications Roundtable meeting, and develop a database of current telecom user plans and initiatives in Arizona.

The purpose of the Roundtable, and the database, is to facilitate networking, information sharing, collaboration and partnership development among key public and private telecom "user groups" and telecom providers engaged in regional or statewide telecom infrastructure development initiatives.
